Exploring Controversial Issues: Discursive Devices in Duterte’s Speeches

The qualitative study examined the discursive devices in President Duterte’s speeches on controversial issues using Critical Discourse Analysis. This looked at ten given by Duterte between 2016 and 2019, including a hardline stance against drugs criminality, an end to graft corruption government, despotic policy drug pushers, making brash off-the-cuff remarks, extreme bravery, stepped-up attacks rebels, intense love for his country. results revealed that used different such as dysphemism, directness, alliteration, anaphora, metaphor, epiphora, expressive values evoke affiliative responses from audiences, offend groups of people, give rhythm speeches, emphasize, influence, encourage, persuade others. findings may be utilized further provide valuable insight people become good listeners properly discern particular discourse's real fundamental meaning.
